_Frequently Asked Questions...

What do I need to bring on a You vs Wild trip?
Sensible footwear - closed toe trainers or boots (no sandals or jandals) warm or sun hat, Sunscreen, insect repellant, waterproof / windproof / warm clothing for changeable weather, small day-pack, remember to bring your camera & a smile! See What You'll Need for more details

What do I need to wear on my You vs Wild walk?
LAYERS! To stay warm and ready for all weather conditions it is important to wear/bring several layers of clothing. This allows you to remove and add layers as you warm up or cool down. Wool or synthetic clothing like fleece and polypropylene are great for base and warm layers. If possible, avoid cotton clothing as when cotton gets wet (from sweat and weather) it stays wet and gets heavy and cold. Bring a wind or waterproof coat for over your warm layers (if you don't have one, don't worry we have some that you can borrow, also a few fleece layers). See What You'll Need for more details

What is provided for me on the You vs Wild walks?
All transport to and from your Queenstown accommodation Snacks (& Lunch & bottled water on full day hikes)- incl. tea/coffee, cookies Friendly, knowledgeable & cheerful local guides Interpretative commentary of flora, fauna, history, geology and snowshoes in winter - these go over your own shoes so please wear sensible footwear - closed toe trainers or outdoor footwear (preferably waterproof) and warm socks, Poles - adjustable length Day packs, Gortex and Fleece Jackets are available on loan.

How fit do I need to be?
All of our walks are designed for averagely fit people who do at least some walking. The oldest person to walk with us was 74 years old and the youngest was 6 years old..

    Do you cater for children?
Yes we do. We encourage people with children to take a private walk rather than have the hassles of walking with others. This way you can walk at you own pace & your children's interests can be catered for. Child price is under 14yrs. Generally we don't charge for small children that are carried by parents.
